Heisann alle!

This week was incredible. Some of the best things were:

  1. Edvard Grieg's hjem. On P-day we visited Edvard Grieg's house, a 19th century composer who lived in Bergen. The best part of it all was the view of the fjord from his backyard! I haven't seen water so glass-smooth, so beautiful, in my life! See the attached pictures.

  2. The Book of Mormon Musical in Oslo. For First Transfer Training, we flew to the mission home near Oslo. Apart of our time there, we got to help the missionaries in Oslo give out free copies of the Book of Mormon to patrons of Det Norsk Theatret! We gave out near 150 copies! My favorite people to talk to were the taxi drivers waiting outside of the theater, because, they being used to talking with strangers, open up easily and many accepted copies of the Book of Mormon!

  3. First Transfer Training. For two days, the new missionaries met in Oslo for training (presentations by President and Søster Hill, the Assistants, and lots of role plays!). I learned so much, including how to personalize the message of the Restoration for different people, and the power of asking inspired questions. It was a blast to get to see some of my MTC district there! There is such a strength in meeting with other missionaries.

  4. Splits Magic. Søster Love and I went knocking on doors and street contacting on splits. We were floored in just a short time, we gave away three copies of the Book of Mormon, got two phone numbers, and a return appointment with someone we talked to on her porch! Plus, we had fun taking Mary Poppins-like pictures on one of the streets we worked on. Such a quaint European street!

  5. Bus miracle and referral in Øygarden. We received a referral of a woman that lives near Øygarden, about a two hour bus ride from where we live. Øygarden is a region of islands on the west coast of Norway. I didn't realize that I would ever be proselyting on islands on my mission! The only difference is that there are no palm trees, but lots of trees! The bus only departs the station that direction once every hour. We ran into a few problems along the way and knew we were going to miss the bus. We couldn't find the right terminal either. Nevertheless, when we finally found the right departing terminal the bus we needed arrived! The bus had been late. It was such a miracle, a gift from Heavenly Father. He knew we needed to make the bus and this woman needed to learn His Gospel.

This week I continued in my Book of Mormon study, studying in Ether. The Book of Mormon plays an essential role in conversion, not only the conversion of investigators but in our own. I know without a doubt that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers, which is the way we speak with Him. The way that He answers us is through the scriptures, especially through the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is the most correct book on earth, for it contains the fulness of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ simply and plainly. The last General Conference talk given by President Monson in a general session was on the power of the Book of Mormon. It is essential that we follow His counsel and gain a testimony of the Book. If we are not studying it daily, let us start now! The fire of my testimony is fueled every day by studying in the Book of Mormon. It is true!

Have a great week!

Love,

Søster Brimhall
