Hello family and friends!
This week:
Doorstep lesson. We were "banking" (tracting) on Saturday night, and met an international student from Pakistan! We introduced him to the Book of Mormon and began to answer many of his questions. He asked questions like "What is the purpose of life?" and "How can we prepare to meet God?" We taught him a shortened version of the Plan of Salvation on his doorstep and got a return appointment! It is incredible what the knowledge of the Gospel really is, and how it has changed my life. Because of the knowledge of where we came from before birth, our purpose in our life on earth, and what happens after we die, we have the map back to our Heavenly Father! We don't have to search anymore, because the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! If you have every wondered about the answer to these questions, visit Mormon.org or send me an email!
Primary program. The children in the ward had a special musical program during sacrament meeting. There are about 15 children in the primary. The Primary Children's songs are so densly-packed with doctrine! The Gospel is truly simple enough for a child to understand! No matter English or Norwegian, the language of music brings the Spirit so strongly, which testifies to us of the truth of the Gospel.
Father's Day in Norway. Yesterday, 12 November was Father's Day in Norway! It was a great day to remember the Christ-like example my own father is to me and how families are such a source of joy in our lives! In Norway, married couples are taxed more heavily than unmarried couples. So, most couple cohabitate. I have seen what strength and support a married husband and wife give to each other and their children. When a married mom and dad raise their children in love and righteousness,
Omni 1:26, "Yea, come unto Christ and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth, you will be saved."
What it means to offer our whole souls to Jesus Christ is to sacrifice to follow Him. When we offer our whole souls to Jesus Christ, we repent of our sins, turn over our weaknesses, contribute our time and resources, and sacrifice our own will to follow His. This is called repentance. We trust that what we sacrifice for, the possibility of living with God again, is worth much more than what we sacrifice. When we offer our whole souls to Jesus Christ, we come to know Him.
I love this Gospel and know it is true!
Much love,
Søster Brimhall
Søster Stolp and I were tracting in the dark (the sun sets pretty early), so we wear "refleks", which are reflective bracelets to put on your backpack and wear over your coat. The refleks on her umbrella really showed when the flash from the camera went off!
We visited a member's home for dinner. They live about 300 feet from the fjord (in the background). They're view is incredible!
Søster Stolp and I at the top of a rock overlooking Bergen. On P-day we went on a hike. Vi gikk på en fjelle tur! Så vakker!
