Serving in Bergen

Hallo familie og venner! Jeg håper at siste uken var så bra!

A few highlights from this week:

  1. Giving copies of the Book of Mormon. With the Book of Mormon musical underway in Oslo, more and more people have heard about the Book of Mormon! We had some incredible experiences on the street teaching about the Book of Mormon.

  2. Speaking in sacrament meeting. This week, the bishop asked all the new missionaries to the ward to give a brief testimony. I centered my remarks on Alma 7:11-13 and my testimony of the Savior. Truly, if we rely on Him, we can do miracles (Moroni 7:33). This created great opportunities to practice Norwegian with the members, as I met more of them! The members in Bergen are incredible. Though fewer in numbers, they are a tight-knit group and contribute so much to the ward! I am blessed to serve in a great ward here!

  3. Norwegian class. Our zone has focused on getting more people to teach, and so our zone leaders and sister training leaders started a program with a little friendly competition! We focused on getting phone numbers and placing copies of the Book of Mormon. This week, we've talked with so many people that had some interest, whether in the Gospel, missionary-sponsored sport night, or språk class (Norwegian class)! Each week, the missionaries in our district teach a free Norwegian class, welcome to anyone interested in learning. We have people come from all over the world, especially from Syria, Iraq, Africa (also from India, Singapore, Japan, etc.) You name it, and we've met someone from there! This week, we met a kind woman from Iraq. She and her husband emigrated to Norway. Norway, and especially Bergen, is a hub for international students. We are teaching and serving with people from all over the world!

When we have "tasted and know of the goodness of Jesus" (Mormon 1:15), we cannot help but share the Gospel with others! I testify that Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, loves us and knows us personally. We can come to know Him through deeper scripture study, prayer, repentance, church attendance, and service. The basic doctrines of the Gospel of Jesus Christ provide the foundation of how we come to know Him. It's the quality of each of these things that determines the quality of our relationship with the Savior.

Have a great week!

Love,

Søster Brimhall

3. Skjolebrød. Such a yummy pastry! It has a vanilla custard middle, and covered in glaze and coconut.
